Ask The Slot Expert

24 August 2000

Dear John,

I live in Ontario, Canada and I have a question about the GameMaker machines that have different games on them including video keno.

I have been told all kind of stories about how these machines work. Would you please clear this matter up for me?

My question is: When I pick, say, numbers 1,2, and 3 on any one spin and 4, 5, and 6 come up in that turn, would I have won if I had picked 4, 5, and 6 instead of 1, 2, and 3?

Some people tell me that the numbers you pick do not matter, only how many you pick, which only helps decide how much you will win. Please help me clear up this matter.

Thank you,
Don

Dear Don:

The numbers you pick definitely do make a difference.

You choose the numbers you want to play. When you press the Draw button, the computer in the machine randomly draws the appropriate number of numbers. The machine then pays you off according to how many of the numbers you chose match the numbers the machine chose.

In your example, you would have won had you chosen 4, 5, and 6 instead of 1, 2, and 3.

Best of luck in and out of the casinos!
John
