A choice that does matter in video keno

1 December 2008

I just have to add something to your response. It doesn't matter what numbers you choose, but it does matter how many you choose. Typically, casinos will have significantly different pay tables based on the type of bet that is made. Casino Niagara, where I gamble, has all of the pay tables set at roughly 93% for video keno. However, I have seen paybacks vary from 75% to 95% depending on the number of choices that you choose.

Otherwise, I love your column!!!

-Tim

Dear Tim,

Thanks for the kind words about my column.

You're absolutely right. The one choice you have while playing video keno that truly does matter is the number of numbers you select. The long-term payback can vary widely based on how many numbers you play.

Smart video keno players can be like smart video poker players. They can check the pay tables and play only the high-paying ones. Keno players have one advantage over video poker players, though. Keno players don't have to learn a strategy too!

Best of luck in and out of the casinos,
John
