Using a casino player's card for video poker

18 July 2010
Some of my friends and acquaintances refuse to use a casino player's card while playing video poker. They believe that their payoff will be reduced because of the comps they receive from having the card inserted. If you happen to be someone who always uses a player's card when playing your favorite machine, congratulations. ... (read more)

Picking a Good Video Poker Game

8 May 2010
One of the reasons for the popularity of video poker is it generally has a higher payback -- sometimes even more than 100 percent for a skilled player -- than slot machines. And more importantly, a knowledgeable player can tell the payback of the game by looking at the paytable that is displayed right on the machine. ... (read more)

Playing a "Hopping 7s" Progression with a Controlled Shooter

23 April 2010
A while back I wrote about playing a "Hopping 7's" progression. That article can be found here: https://www.casinocitytimes.com/jerry-stickman/article/playing-a-hopping-7s-progression-42967. The conclusion of that article was to avoid using the progression because the house edge of 11.11 percent will ultimately prevail. ... (read more)

Setting for the Seven on Comeout

13 March 2010
Hi Stickman, Something strange (I think). It is possible confusion or added length of a previous article "Effect of Odds". I quote: "A controlled shooter has the ability to reduce the appearance of the 7 thereby reducing the 2-1 edge on the come out." If you are going to take odds don't you at a very ... (read more)

36-Card Craps Games

9 January 2010
Stickman, What are your thoughts on "Card Craps" with a 36-card deck? Ted Ted, Card Craps is played in California. In California, craps must be a banked card game because it is illegal to base the outcome of a game exclusively on dice. There are several variations of Card Craps that vary from casino to casino. ... (read more)

Why Is The Hardway Set Better Than the 2V Set for Avoiding the 7?

14 November 2009
Stickman, Let me first acknowledge that I am aware that you guys probably have conducted thousands of test rolls before coming to your conclusions about what is the best set. I just want to know to get a better understanding of the art of dice control. You have stated that the "Hard way set" is the best protection against the 7. ... (read more)

The Effect of Odds For a Controlled Shooter

17 October 2009
Recently I wrote an article comparing a pass line bet with placing the 6 or 8 at various levels of dice control. The article compared three different levels of control and the resultant edge for each type of bet. The levels compared were for different sevens-to-rolls-rations (SRRs). A random shooter will throw six 7s out of every 36 rolls on average or, simplifying, 1 out of every 6 rolls. ... (read more)

Playing Craps With a $2000 Bankroll

13 September 2009
Hi Stickman, I'm sure you've simulated most every popular system out there. If you had a max bankroll of $2,000, what craps system or strategy would you recommend playing? I've simulated playing a don't pass bet with odds along with a don't come bet, with a positive outcome. However, in reality, ... (read more)

Why Is the Frist Bet So Large in Dice Pilot's Betting System?

1 August 2009
Hi Stickman, I just read your article about Dice Pilot's system. Why should his first bet be so large compared to what his normal bets are? Risking $6,400 then going down to $110 doesn't make sense to me. What is your opinion? Thank you, Joyce Joyce, See the original article here: ... (read more)

Playing Craps With a Limited Bankroll

17 July 2009
Hi Stickman, I'm sure you've simulated most every popular system out there. If you had a max bankroll of $2,000, what craps system or strategy would you recommend playing? I've simulated playing a don't pass bet with odds along with a don't come bet, with a positive outcome. However, in reality, it ... (read more)
