Recently a reader (Norman) asked about a strange video poker game he had seen in Biloxi. He is a disciplined and skilled player. He generally plays jacks or better if a decent pay table is present. If not, he checks for a decent bonus poker game. As he was scouting the games in this particular casino, he came upon a game that did not make sense to him. ... (read more)
Video Poker Strategy Quiz A-Q Suited or J-Q Unsuited?21 January 2023
This article contains a video poker strategy quiz. The game is full-pay (9/6 – 9-for-1 full house, 6-for-1 flush) jacks or better. The quiz assumes the maximum five credits is played. The maximum bet produces the highest long-term return because the royal flush pays 800-for-1 rather than 250-for-1 when less than the maximum is bet. ... (read more)
A Tipping Question14 January 2023
From Dan, Stickman, I’m headed to Vegas next weekend. Something I’ve always been curious about – what’s your philosophy of tipping for a hand paid jackpot or a hand paid royal flush? Dan Hi Dan, Well, I am sorry, but I missed responding before your trip. I sincerely apologize. I was cleaning up my inbox and your email somehow got lost among the junk mail I receive. ... Craps Betting Sequence Questions31 December 2022
Hello Stickman. I saw an article you wrote about pass line and come bets. That is what I play and my method is $25 on the pass line, then $50 odds. Then I come bet twice with same $25/50, then I stop betting. Two questions: 1. Should I do more come bets? 2. When should I increase the size of my bets? Thank you, Will Hello Will, I have written several articles on craps. ... (read more)

Bonus Poker – 8/5 Standard or 7/5 Progressive?17 December 2022
From Norman: Hi Stickman, So, progressives. I have always kept in mind what you told me a while back that you can add about .5 percent per $500 on a progressive machine. So, a couple of my observations. One, it seems like every pay table for BP is 7/5 at a progressive machine. If BP is 7/5, and the meter is $1500 I believe it becomes a 98.57 game. ... (read more)

Bonus Poker or DDB26 November 2022
Hi Stickman, I have an observation - I’ve noticed over time that most people are playing DDB and other variations of progressive video poker. But I love those two pairs. Not quite sure what other people are thinking. I do respect your math knowledge of the game. If I were 30 years younger, I might have spent the effort trying to learn more about statistics. ...
