Craps Betting Sequence Questions

31 December 2022

Hello Stickman.

I saw an article you wrote about pass line and come bets.

That is what I play and my method is $25 on the pass line, then $50 odds. Then I come bet twice with same $25/50, then I stop betting.

Two questions:

1. Should I do more come bets?
2. When should I increase the size of my bets?

Thank you,

Will

Hello Will,

I have written several articles on craps. My overall strategy, along with several other math-savvy writers, recommend betting one pass or come bet and whatever odds are comfortable for you.

If double odds are comfortable (or the table maximum), that is what to bet.

When (or more accurately, if) I bet on random craps shooters, I only place one small pass line or come bet with no odds. Granted, the odds bet will break even over the long haul, but the volatility increases as the odds bet increases.

Betting on my own shooting, or other disciplined shooters, is different.

I start with one pass line bet and double odds – like your $25/50 bet combination. On the next two rolls, I place the same sized come bet and when it goes to a number, I add double odds.

This is a far as I go until I have won at least two to three times my initial spread.

Then, if the table allows more than double odds, I will take some winnings and increase the odds on the winning number by the amount of the original odds bet. I continue this until I am at the maximum table odds on all bets.

I then will do an additional come bet (with double odds) and continue with three working come bets (and a pass line bet) until I have another two or three winning bets in may rack.

I continue spreading to more come bets using the same technique until all numbers are covered.

Once I am spread to all numbers, or after winning two to three more bets, I start increasing my come bets by a unit ($5/$6 or $10/$12) on each number that wins. When the pass line wins, I also increase my pass line bet.

This continues until all bets are at the table limit. I did accomplish this feat exactly once. It is quite a feeling.

I guess to succinctly answer your question, I recommend a stepped combination of more come bets and increased bets.

I certainly hope this answers your questions.

As always, may all your wins be swift and large, and your losses be slow and small.
