Cannery Casinos benefiting by Pennsylvania table games approval

8 January 2010

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Shuffle Master and Las Vegas Sands Corp. aren't the only Nevada gaming companies expected to benefit by Pennsylvania's approval Thursday to allow the state's slot machine-only casinos to add table games.

The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County outside of Pittsburgh is owned by Cannery Casino Resorts, which operates the Cannery casinos in North Las Vegas and on Boulder Highway and the Rampart Casino.

Meadows plans move about one-third of its 3,700 slot machines to other parts of the casino to provide space for two gambling pits containing 42 table games.

A separate 9,000-square-foot room on the casino's lower level across from the bowling alley will be renovated to hold a 26-table poker room.

Meadows officials would like to open the table game portion of the casino by summer, but it may take six to nine months for the state to adopt new gaming regulations.
