Top slots: Part 1

29 March 2008

According to the slot manufacturers, these 10 slots have the potential of hitting at the high end of 95%+.

I review 5 versions in Part 1 and continue with 5 more next time we meet in the Slots Playground.

Let's explore.

1) White Orchid:

Images of butterflies, tree frogs, fish, bird and topical plants are the theme of this 'exotic' slot. While this is a 40 line machine, if you play max coin of 20 credits/line, you will be triggering all the reels giving you 1024 possible win combinations.

There is an option to make a side bet that activates the Bettor Chance feature allowing you to play two ways, the standard 40 lines plus a MultiWay game increasing your win frequency.

During the free spin mode, if the triggering symbols appear again, the free game mode starts again. Watch those butterflies and birds go round and round for extra credits.

2) DaVinci Diamonds:

As expected, Mona Lisa appears along with the 'dazzling' Da Vinci Diamonds. Gather 3 or more of these dazzlers and you have set off a free spin bonus round. This game incorporates two features, Tumbling Reels and Cashfall Feature.

With a winning combination on the grid, the triggering reel symbols vanish and new symbols drop down from the top of the screen until all the empty space is filled.

The Cashfall feature is triggered during the free spin round resulting in bonus credits.

3) The House of the Dead:

Even though this slot is a basic 3 reeler, the combinations of matching and wild symbols translates into multiplying rewards.

The basic combination is to match the spooky characters on all 3 reels from left to right and then build from there. Even though the hit frequency is low, the top jackpot of 250,000 coins. Doesn't make it so 'scary', right?

4) Good Fortune:

Colorful lucky symbols dot this 50 line game. With pennies, you are triggering 2 lines for each coin and the coin symbol is wild. When the red packet symbols appear scattered on the first three paylines, the free spin round is activated when 5 symbols—a phoenix, lion, fish, turtle and butterfly—change to gold. Thus, one wild symbol increases to five by the last spin with a possible re-spin.

May Good Fortune come your way during this slot adventure.

5) Half Cents:

This game is appropriately named in that each penny pays for 2 payline, thus a half penny slot. At only 1 quarter to activate all paylines, it's a small risk to increase your bet/line.

There are multiplying wild symbols that together can produce a nice reward.

Example: line up a combination that includes a 2X and 5X wild symbol; the reward is multiplied by 10.

The Free Game feature gives you 10 free spins at double credits and can be re-triggered up to a max of 60 free spins.

Your good sense should tell you that 'half cents' is the way to go.

Gayle Mitchell, one of the first women to break through the “felt ceiling” of the previously male-dominated world of casino gambling gurus, is now regarded as one of North America’s leading experts on casino gambling.

Gayle’s commitment to educating the gambling public began almost 20 years ago, when she walked into a Las Vegas casino and experienced for the first time the thrill that comes with winning even a small bet. She made up her mind then and there to learn every game in the casino, and a short time later resolved to make a career out of sharing her insights with other gamblers. She had always considered herself to be a good teacher – she believes in keeping things simple – and decided that she would commit herself to showing newbies how to become knowledgeable, intelligent gamblers.

Gayle started her own publishing company, and her first book came out in 1997. Today she is the author of seven books, seven EBooks, and a set of five Tips booklets, and has presented many seminars on casino gambling. Currently she teaches Learn to Win Programs with other leading experts at GamblingTeachers.com. The site is a player-friendly Free Gambling Learning Center offering 300+ online lessons for popular casino games plus Gambling Teachers Blog. Gayle also operates www.gamerisms.com, which is a games glossary site for sport, casino, skill and video game players.

“It’s a fact that less than 2 percent of casino players know the profitable, correct strategies and/or rules for most casino games,” Gayle says. “Our group of career teachers and writers are working to improve that statistic.”
