Microgaming and Intertops end longtime partnership

27 May 2009

Following a partnership that lasted nearly 11 years, Intertops and Microgaming have parted ways.

Microgaming – which made the decision to begin denying U.S. players last November as a result of the Kentucky domain seizure case – made the announcement last week after Intertops decided to reenter the U.S. market by partnering with U.S.-friendly RealTime Gaming (RTG) and opening the new RED Casino.

"Microgaming has powered the well established online casino for over a decade, and has enjoyed a successful relationship with it," the press release said.

Intertops sent an e-mail notification to all of its affiliates last week announcing that its GREEN Casino and the Royal Joker Casino "can no longer accept new sign-ups." Affiliates were assured that steps had been taken to re-direct leads to the new RED Casino in order to "ensure that you maximize your traffic sent to Intertops."

The e-mail went on to say that the tracking of affiliate customers to Intertops GREEN Casino and Intertops RED Casino "works across all our platforms, so you will not lose out on any referrals."

"We chose to take this step in order to serve new American players, as well as those who have been so loyal over the years – including, of course, affiliates," said Michl Posch of Intertops.

"Intertops Casino is proud to have been powered by such a reputable, market-leading, gaming software provider [such as Microgaming] over the past decade. The assistance that Microgaming has provided in the change process has been extremely helpful," Posch stated in the Microgaming press release.

Last June, Intertops and Microgaming celebrated the 10th year of their partnership.

"A long, successful partnership like this is unprecedented in the iGaming business," Posch said at the time. "When we were preparing to launch one of the world's very first online casinos, Microgaming was about the only game in town. Nobody else could match them in terms of number or quality of games, and as far as we are concerned, ten years on, the same still stands."
