Doyle Brunson is Coming (Back) to America18 October 2007
"Texas Dolly" is once again opening his doors to the American poker public. DoylesRoom.com, the online poker site endorsed by 10-time World Series of Poker champion Doyle Brunson, announced Thursday that it has begun accepting U.S. players again. The news comes less than nine months after the site decided not to permit online real money play to players from the U.S., citing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and payment-processor closures. "The key reason DoylesRoom.com initially pulled out of the states was the safety of our player's funds mostly due to the processor pullouts after the signing of [the UIGEA]," said a spokesperson from DoylesRoom.com on Thursday. "Things have now stabilized. There are promising signs from lobbying efforts in Washington D.C., and most importantly, the availability of processing options for the players that will ensure the safety of their funds." The spokesperson added that the company will comply with the 12-state exception rule that its software provider, Microgaming Systems, has in place, meaning those states that have individual laws (Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin) regarding e-gaming will not be switching platforms.
