Spicing up my Featured Game duties

31 December 2013

One of my duties as Associate Editor at Casino City is to write weekly reviews of online slot machines, which appear in our Online Casino City Times and Casino City Times newsletters.

While it is interesting to see some of the new games online casinos are offering on their sites, playing online slot machines – in "free play" mode, no less – is not exactly my cup of tea.

Each week, I play a new slot until I reach the game's bonus round. I do this for two reasons: to be able to see firsthand what the bonus is like so I can write about it, and to be able to take a screenshot of the game to use in the newsletters.

Sometimes, I reach the bonus round in a matter of 10 or 15 minutes. Other times, it can take up to a few hours. That's just the nature of playing slots. And when there's no money on the line, it can be somewhat of a tedious task.

So I've decided to spice up the process. Starting with the Featured Game that will appear in the Jan. 3 edition of the Online Casino City Times (and the Jan. 6 edition of the Casino City Times), I will track and report my wins and losses on every game I play.

The idea is simple: each week, I will play the game as I normally play it, stopping once I reach the bonus round. I will bet $1 per payline, meaning a 20-line game will have me betting $20 per spin. (I'll bet $9 per spin on a nine-line game, and so forth.) I'll keep all my results in an Excel spreadsheet and share them with readers every month and in bigger reports every quarter and at the end of the year.

Hopefully, Casino City readers will find this interesting. Personally, I'm excited to see if I can actually turn a profit at the end of the year.
