New Jersey online gambling will go live Nov. 264 October 2013
State regulations go into effect Oct. 21, with additional changes not included in the original proposal becoming effective Oct. 28. A five-day "soft play" period will begin Nov. 21, in which licensed Internet gaming permit holders will be required to have invited players test their systems in a "live" environment. If, after five days, the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) approves the permit holder, it can provide full Internet gambling to the public on the 26th. Players must be physically located within the state in order to gamble online. New Jersey is set to become the third state to offer online gambling, along with Nevada and Delaware. The DGE has not yet licensed or confirmed any agreements made by the 12 Atlantic City casinos and their proposed online gambling partners. New Jersey law requires all Internet gambling operators to have a brick-and-mortar presence in the state.
