Player banned from Harrah's properities may lose WSOP seat

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The unfortunate predicament of Carter Gill was a topic of discussion among some poker players late in Day 1D of the World Series of Poker Main Event.

Gill competed on Saturday and advanced to Day 2A. He’s scheduled to be seated in the Pavilion at table 23, seat 10, with 49,000 in chips.

But his chances of sitting at that table, or even entering the Rio, are in serious jeopardy. According to his Twitter account (@cartergill), Gill is banned from all Harrah's properties (which includes the Rio) after an alleged incident with a girl in a hotel room. He sent a message to Tournament Director Jack Effel (@WSOPTD) on Sunday.

We'll let him explain:

"@WSOPTD I am supposed to be going into day 2 of the WSOP Main event tomorrow. I got banned from all Harrah's properties this morning."

"@WSOPTD For throwing a girls [sic] clothes out the window. Honestly. Thats [sic] why I was banned. Can you please do something to help me?"

He also asked for help from the Twitterverse:

"If there is anything anyone can do to put me in touch with someone who can get me unbanned, I would greatly appreciate it."

Effel responded to Gill via Twitter:

"@cartergill Not my job to judge you.....I'll look into it, but no promises. Will give you a call when I hear back."

As of press time there was no word whether Gill would be allowed to compete tomorrow, but Casino City will provide updates should there be any developments.

Tom "durrrr" Dwan drew the third seat on table 85 on Sunday, which was supposed to be in the Pavilion. What Dwan didn't realize was that his table was actually in the Amazon Room as one of the featured tables.

So when he showed up at the Pavilion on Sunday, he discovered an empty table. Thankfully, a dealer was seated at the table and told Dwan where to go.

Glenn Galfond, father of Phil Galfond, was seated at the same table as Dwan, and he also had to be told by the dealer in the Pavilion that his table was a featured one.

Rap star Nelly competed on Day 1D and was located in the Pavilion near the main stage. Sitting on the main stage were members of his entourage, including a gentleman who was big enough to be a defensive tackle for the Cowboys.

Nelly is no Emmitt Smith when it comes to playing poker. The rap star actually knows his way around a poker table. So it was a bit surprising that Nelly was involved in a controversial hand during the second level. However, the controversy wasn’t his fault. While he was pondering a pre-flop raise by an opponent, the player to Nelly's left moved all-in out of turn. Nelly smooth-called and the player then tried to withdraw his all-in.

The floor was called and the tournament official ruled that the player who moved all-in had to stay all-in. Action folded around to Nelly, who called the man's all-in and turned over pocket aces.

His opponent turned over pocket fours and was dominated. The board was no help and he was eliminated. Nelly survived that all-in, but was eliminated later in the day.

The line of the day came from an unknown player in the Pavilion, who asked if anyone around "knew [what his] saying from back home [was]." When no one responded, he delivered his answer:

"If you don't show me, blow me."

Casino City assumes he was talking about poker, and not other activities. But don't quote us on that.
