CG Technology sports books win $2.32 million on Super Bowl wagers

5 February 2014

LAS VEGAS -- Their race and sports books may still say Cantor Gaming over the entrance. But the recently renamed CG Technology said Tuesday its eight sports books generated 16 percent of Nevada’s total handle and captured an 11.8 percent win on Sunday’s Super Bowl.

CG Technology’s sports books took in $19.02 million in wagers, a 30 percent increase compared with 2013. The gaming subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald reported a hold of $2.32 million, a 55 percent increase compared with last year, according to the Las Vegas-based bookmaker.

“We were prepared for a strong turnout at our books over the weekend and we were not disappointed,” Lee Amaitis, president and CEO of CG Technology, said in a statement. “We were especially pleased to see CG Technology’s handle and win increase significantly year-over-year … as well as our company’s strong contribution to the Nevada state handle and total win.”

On Monday, the Nevada State Gaming Control Board Gaming Commission announced that $119.4 million was wagered in the state’s 183 race and sports books on Super Bowl XLVIII between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. The board reported unaudited figures of a total win of $19.67 million for the state’s sports books.

CG Technology operates race and sports books at the The Palms Casino Resort, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and six other Las Vegas casinos, as well as providing risk management services to the Atlantis at Paradise Island Resort and Casino in the Bahamas and mobile gaming on a selection of Celebrity Cruise ships.
