Casino City's Friday Five: Las Vegas edition

This week, Las Vegas suffered a tragedy. But locals, visitors and companies alike were there to pick up the pieces, donating their time and money to relief efforts.

But there were also some developments in the poker world, including newly-crowned poker royalty and the return of PKR's 3-D interface.

5. MGM Resorts donates $3 million to aid Las Vegas shooting victims
MGM Resorts and numerous other organizations and casinos are reaching out to help those affected by the tragic shooting that happened in Las Vegas on Sunday.

MGM's $3 million donation will fund humanitarian assistance to the victims of the shooting as well as organizations who provided support while on the scene.

Las Vegas Sands will also be contributing a total of $4 million to its own fund.

4. Simon Jones crowned 'Greatest Poker Player in the Universe'
The Microgaming Poker Network has named its supreme champion – a man by the name of Simon Jones.

Jones scooped first prize in what was the biggest Universal Championship of Poker to date, taking home €5,000, a trophy and some serious bragging rights.

3. Videoslots to integrate 3-D poker into its offering
PKR, an online poker site suspended in May due to financial difficulties, won't be entirely forgotten in the mists of time – Videoslots has acquired PKR's technology assets and will begin offering its players a 3-D, virtual world in which to play the game of poker.

PKR was known for its 3-D capabilities, and the feature proved to be popular with players. Videoslots hopes this new addition will complement its range of online games.
