WSOP rail - Scotty being Scotty

11 July 2007

Scotty being Scotty

After the dinner break, spectators poured into the Amazon Room at the World Series of Poker, and most of them stopped to watch Scotty Nguyen at the featured table. And with crowd stacked three-deep along the rail to watch, Nguyen delivered.

After doubling up, Nguyen decided to have some fun at the expense of his latest victim. "You can't double up on me, baby" Nguyen said. "I know exactly what you have." The crowd cheered in approval and had smiles on their faces. They had come for the Scotty Nguyen experience, and he delivered.

That's right – just below the shoulders

Apparently European Poker Tour founder John Duthie likes to be relaxed at the poker table. Duthie, who has built up a health chip stack, had a masseuse at the table working on his back, neck and shoulders for about 40 minutes before the dinner break,

After the dinner break, a second masseuse resumed work on his shoulders and back.

Television dreams

ESPN announcer Norm Chad drew plenty of attention from the players as he walked the floor in preparation for the Main Event broadcast.

Players leaned back to talk to him as he walked by. They got out of their seats to talk to them. And they talked to him at great length when given the chance. One player even fantasized what ESPN would say about him winning a hand. "Ohh! A 10 on the river. I can't believe he hit that card."
