All right. So you screwed up Valentine's Day. Everybody does that at least once. But the key is how you recover.
You can't go the flowers and chocolate route. It's too late for that. A romantic dinner is a nice gesture, but it's definitely not enough to get you off the hook. And while a trip to Paris or Venice would be nice, it just can't be justified in today's economy.
But what you can do is take a nice, romantic trip to Vegas and show your significant other just how much you care. And to help you with that trip -- and because you screwed up Valentine's Day, we know you need the help -- here's 10 things to do make up for botching this past weekend.
10. Catch a crooner
Nothing says I love you like the musical stylings of Wayne Newton or Tom Jones. If those two aren't your speed, you can try Elton John, Barry Manilow or any of the other top headliners that regularly play Vegas.
9. Zumanity
This show promises to display the sensual side of Cirque du Soleil. But even better than the super flexible performers that might give you ideas for later in the night are the seating options. You can buy tickets for "duo sofas" so you can enjoy the sensuous show with your date comfortably resting next to you.
8. Harry Winston
Granted, you won't be able to afford anything at this exclusive jewelry shop in the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace. But you will be able to do some window shopping and maybe get some ideas for down the road.
7. Top of the World Restaurant at the Stratosphere
If dining with spectacular views is your thing, it doesn't get much better than this restaurant. The restaurant provides first-rate food. And it revolves 360 degrees in one hour and 20 minutes as it provides sensational views of the Vegas skyline.
6. Fleur De Lys at Mandalay Bay
This is intimate dining at its best. If you're looking from something secluded, you can eat in one of the cabanas that ring the perimeter of the dining room. Or you can sit in the main dining area and enjoy one of the restaurants 12,000 bottles of wine and fine French food while taking in a live floral sculpture of more than 3,000 fresh cut roses and 30 foot walls of cultured stone. Either way, Fleur De Lys is sure to impress your special someone.
5. Dancing fountains
Sometimes the most romantic things in life are simple. And that is certainly the case with the dancing fountains at the Bellagio. Picture it: The desert heat that bakes Las Vegas by day gives way to a comfortably warm, moonlight night. All of a sudden, the music of Frank Sinatra fills the air and water fountains jump to life, swaying and dancing to the magical words of Old Blue Eyes. Your significant other leans closer to you to share the magic...Yep, it doesn't get much better than that.
4. Eiffel Tower (Sunset)
OK. So you couldn't make it to France to salvage this year's Valentine's Day. But that doesn't mean you can't get a bit of the French experience. Head over to Paris Vegas around sunset and head to the top of the replica Eiffel Tower. The panoramic views of Las Vegas are stunning. And at sunset, it is one of the most magical places in all of Las Vegas.
3. Gondola ride at the Venetian
Show off the hopeless romantic in you by heading over to the Venetian and taking a gondola ride that's replicates the experience in Venice. We're not exactly sure what makes gondoliers singing in Italian romantic, but we can't deny the results. It always works.
2. The spa
Sure, you could have sprung for a treatment at your local day spa. But that's nice, not romantic. Booking a cabana for two where you can both get a massage at the same time. That's romantic, relaxing, and doesn't require talking.
1. Get married
OK. We're not sure if this will actually get you off the hook for Valentine's Day. But hey, it shows you care, you're spontaneous and you're committed to commitment. After that, you're own your own.
