![]() This book changed the game. Finding a good book is not easy, but you will enjoy it when you do. There are many books written for different poker games, so you only need to pick one that you like and enjoy it. All of the below books are available at Amazon.com and are what I consider to be "classic" poker books that every player should read at some point. Stay tuned for my forthcoming list of more advanced poker books for the more serious player. 10. Every Hand Revealed by Gus Hansen Gus Hansen reveals how he plays and explains every hand from his stunning win in the Aussie Millions tournament. If you want to get inside his head and see how you can implement aggression to reach success, this is a must-read. The book is totally worth your time and could be eye-opening for some players. 9. Poker Math That Matters by Owen Gaines Even though it is not the oldest book in the list, it gives you perspective on the most critical poker part — the math. Learning these concepts has never been easier than with this engaging book full of quizzes, examples and great advice. Thus, if you do not have a strong background in math but still want to improve your game, you should look no further. 8. Poker For Dummies by Richard D. Harroch It is the best book for covering the basics of play. Thus, if you are new to poker and want to learn the essentials, such as positions and hand rankings, this book is for you. It is written with a dose of humor, so you will surely have a good time while learning the game and reading the book. 7. Hold 'em Poker by David Sklansky A book from the legendary author explaining the ins and outs of Texas Hold'em poker rules and strategy. It was written in 1976 and helped many players to master the game since then. Even though it is an old book, it can still give you a wealth of information that you do not want to miss. 6. Winning Low-Limit Hold’em by Lee Jones Lee Jones has a solid reputation in the poker world, especially when it comes to teaching people how to become better. If you want to learn more than Texas Hold’em poker hands rankings and actually start winning, this book is a must. It shows plenty of strategies that can be implemented almost immediately and provide results. 5. The Body Language of Poker by Mike Caro Probably the first and most well-known book written about poker tells. Just imagine how much more information you can get by reading your opponents' reactions, movement, breathing and more. Worth a read if you want to revisit some good old truths about human patterns, behavior and physical tells. ![]() The math aspect of poker is critical. This book is considered the Bible for SNG players. Moshman focuses on the power of aggression and how to use it for winning SNG tournaments. One of its main advantages is the easy way the author explains his thoughts. If you are planning to play this particular format, you simply must read the book. 3. Harrington On Hold'em series by Dan Harrington Poker Hall of Famer Dan Harrington is a legend. He has over 30 years of experience and won the World Series of Poker Main Event in 1995. You will find a good mix of theory and practical tips in here. Both amateurs and experienced players can benefit from reading the series. 2. Doyle Brunson's Super System by Doyle Brunson Doyle Brunson is one of the most experienced poker players in the history of the game and won back-to-back WSOP Main Events in 1976 and 1977. His books were revolutionary when they came out and changed the game forever. Moreover, his aggressive approach was successfully adopted by many poker pros. Texas Dolly shares his insights on many aspects of the game, and there’s certainly a lot to learn from one of the best in the business. 1. The Theory Of Poker by David Sklansky Many poker players will tell you this is the best poker book ever written, and they will not be far from the truth. Sklansky shares an exceptionally deep and, at the same time, easy to understand look at the essentials of poker theory. It is not limited to Texas Hold’em, but covers advanced concepts that apply to any poker game out there.
