Rebecca's Recommendations - September 8, 2005
8 September 2005
By Rebecca Liggero
Welcome back to Rebecca's Recommendations! Right now I'm neck deep in preparation for one entire week in Sin City for an online gaming conference and a gaming trade show. Yes, that's right, one right after the other, both in Las Vegas. I might die. Regardless, I wouldn’t dream of leaving without spicing up your weekend with some juicy online gaming information.
You know, I just recently realized that I have not given much attention to a whole online gaming fad out there including skill games, and most notably, backgammon. Play65 is a very popular backgammon site that boasts the largest online backgammon community of over 100,000 players with 2,500 players playing at peak hours. Players at Play65 can choose to play single games, session games or various multiplayer tournaments for real money or for fun. For all you poker players, there are many similarities between poker and backgammon- you need skill, knowledge of the game, and the ability to size up your opponents in order to win. Also, I fully trust the folks behind Play65 and know that they take much pride in their site. You should absolutely check out Play65 for something new, for something up and coming, and for something that absolutely involves skill and intelligence. And, most importantly, Play65 has a special offer for Casino City Players that you must take advantage of: deposit $25 and get $5 bonus when using coupon CITY5, deposit $50 and get $10 bonus when using coupon CITY10, deposit $100 and get $20 bonus when using coupon CITY20.
Last, but absolutely not least, I wanted to mention that PokerRoom.com will be hosting two $20+0 Online Aid Tournaments this weekend to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. PokerRoom.com will match the total prize pool and donate that sum to the American Red Cross organization. I sincerely hope you choose to participate in this great cause either on Saturday, September 10th at 2pm EDT or on Sunday, September 11th at 5pm EST. My thoughts are always with those who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina, and my greatest hopes for a speedy recovery.
Ok, on a happier note, wish me luck on my travels, and hopefully you'll never hear from me again because I won 1,000,000 dollars in Vegas and immediately quit my job. HA. (I'm just kidding…I love my job).

Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community. After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true! Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family. One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane." Contact Rebecca at rebecca@liggero.net. Be careful, though – she might quote you.
