Rebecca's Recommendations - March 23, 2006

23 March 2006

I hope everyone had an eventful St. Patrick's Day weekend! Next year I highly recommend attending the South Boston St. Patrick's Day parade- I have never seen so many intoxicated young people covered in random green paraphernalia. I guess that's what happens when you start drinking at 8:00 in the morning. Scary. Anyway, in addition to the parade, Boston was the chosen location of another crazy St. Paddy's Day event. GoldenPalace.com Online Casino, an online casino famous for their "unique" marketing strategies, organized one of their "competitive eating contests" at a bar in Boston's Faneuil Hall. The winner of the contest, Patrick Bertoletti, consumed 5.75 pounds, yes pounds, of corned beef hash and cabbage in 10 minutes. God bless you, Patrick.

Golden Palace is not only known for their marketing strategies, however. As I have mentioned numerous times in the past, Golden Palace is a fantastic online casino with outstanding customer service, state of the art software, high payouts, and a generous 300% welcome bonus. Additionally, to thank players for spreading the good word, Golden Palace awards players with $20 per friend referred and a 20% bonus on each friend's first deposit amount. If this is not enough to convince you to start playing at Golden Palace, go ahead and check out the Golden Palace Shop. You won't be disappointed. I mean, we all need a roulette drinking game, a black and gold boxing robe, and poker addict underwear, right? Actually, I want to buy the "table punching bag". I'm not kidding. That thing is awesome.

While we are on the subject of spending money, I have a great suggestion on how to spend your gambling funds, especially for those of you who live in New York City. The National Hemophilia Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for bleeding and clotting disorders, will be sponsoring a Game Night on April 4th, 2006 at the ESPN Zone in NYC. Tickets start at $75 and include an open bar, food, $250 worth of gambling chips, chances to win fabulous prizes, and more. Now here's most the exciting part- at this event you can win a CASINO CITY sponsored seat in the World Series of Poker! The winner of the 80 person Texas Hold'em Tournament ($1000 buy-in) taking place on Game Night will be awarded a prize package including airfare for two, accommodations at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, a seat in the WSOP, dinner for two, and $1,000 spending cash thanks to my wonderful President and CEO, Michael Corfman. Participation in Game Night 2006 is a great way to have some fun and to help out those in need as all proceeds from this event will benefit the National Hemophilia Foundation. For more information, please see my Online Gaming News of the week, and tickets can be purchased online or by calling Paul Kelly at (212) 328-3711.

For those of you do not live in NYC and/or can't swing the $1,000 buy-in, perhaps you are part of a band and want to win $1,000,000? Bodog has just announced a $1,000,000 battle of the bands competition after which the winner will receive the money in addition to guaranteed international distribution, touring, music videos, marketing, and publicity. For more information, please see my Online Gaming news of the week or visit Bodog MUSIC. Speaking of Bodog, yesterday I purchased the latest Forbes Billionaire magazine and WOW is all I can say. As mentioned last week, Bodog's CEO and founder Calvin Ayre was featured on the cover of this special Forbes issue. Please buy a copy and flip to the "Catch Me If You Can" article. Why? Because there are two FULL pages dedicated to a poolside shot of Calvin Ayre at his Costa Rica estate. As we should all know by now, no picture of his estate would be complete without beautiful women, more than likely in bikinis. This two page spread certainly includes the ladies, and as a nice additional touch, the head and shoulders shot of Calvin has been strategically placed in between a pair of sexy female legs. Unbelievable. Rebecca

Rebecca Liggero

Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community.

After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true!

Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family.

One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane."
