Rebecca's Recommendations - April 14, 2006

I am back- alive and breathing. I just returned from the Amsterdam Casino Affiliate Convention, my first experience in Dam with the crazy online casino crowd. I am happy to say that I managed to stay clear of excessive "coffee shop" visits, sex shows, hookers, and purchases of male genitalia figurines- the biggest temptation of all. Ha ha. On the other hand, I am sorry to report that I probably slept three hours a night and drank far too much vodka sprinkled with a tequila shot here and there (thanks a lot, DS). In addition to a very action packed nightlife, I did manage to have excellent conversations with my online casino contacts. I worked hard for you guys! Stay tuned for information on new online casinos, promotions, and bonuses in next week's issue. Very exciting stuff.
In the meantime, lets start from the beginning of my trip...
Day 1.
My boss and I landed in Dam at 8am on Saturday morning. After checking in to our rooms, I tried to minimize my jetlag by taking a nap, but sadly, a political rally was taking place right outside my window, so that did not happen. Lucky for me, I was invited to a lovely dinner with the Purple Lounge team, so the good company kept me alive. In addition to treating me to dinner, Purple Lounge gave me a membership card to Quintessentially, a top notch concierge service. As I have mentioned in the past, Purple Lounge offers this amazing membership card to their loyal players. I also learned that in addition to playing poker at this wonderful site, now it is possible to play casino games as well! Anyway, after dinner, we headed to the opening night party hosted by Casino Partners, the guys behind Casino Tropez, Titan Poker, and Europa Casino (amongst others). The party was a huge success, and in addition to the open bar, my 7 Sultans and Royal Vegas friend purchased a large tray of tequila shots and made me take one. Made me! As I'm sure you can imagine, the night got ugly. Let me put it to you this way- I don't remember going home, but apparently, I drunk dialed my Absolute Poker contact (she's a girl, relax), my boss, and probably some others when I got back to my room. Totally don't remember that. Whoops.
Day 2.
Alarm, shower, coffee, 9:30am arrival at the exhibit hall. PAINFUL. I made it through the morning by chatting with online casino exhibitors and then had a nice lunch with my English Harbour friend, one of my VIP Casino and InterCasino.com contacts, and the Casinomeister. We had a great chat about the new Marvel Slots at VIP Casino, the excellent monthly promotions that consistently take place at English Harbour, and some other juicy topics. At 5pm the exhibit hall closed down for the day, and I immediately marched straight up to my room for a nice nap before another night out. After a shower, a generous helping of asprin and some Berocca (best hang over cure EVER), I walked down to the boat cruise sponsored by GoldenPalace.com Online Casino, Monaco Gold, and Carnival Casino (amongst others). What a great time that was- open bar, food, dancing, outdoor deck, fun people. When the cruise was over, I stumbled back towards the hotel with the help of my very charming Bingo Liner contact, my tequila obsessed 7 Sultans friend, and one of my very favorites, the Casino Tropez and Titan Poker Director. After having some very necessary late night food, I made it to bed, only to wake up three hours later...
Day 3.
9:30am start again. Thankfully I was able to avoid tequila abuse on the cruise, so I was not hung over, just tired. To begin my morning, I walked over the Casino Profit Share booth- the guys behind Aztec Riches and Music Hall- to see the python they hired to entertain affiliates. The damn thing was 40 pounds, 14 feet long, and I decided to let it wrap itself around my neck. Totally creepy, but that's OK. Later in the day I was treated to lunch by my daily Titan Poker contact and had a great chat about the freerolls at Titan and some of the other tournaments that they have to offer. After lunch I met with my Swiss Casino and 50 Stars friend and it was my pleasure to tell him how much I enjoy working with his team as they are wonderful. 5pm that afternoon marked the conclusion of conference, but certainly not the end of my trip. That evening I was treated to a very, very nice Italian dinner by the Casino Tropez, Titan Poker, and Europa Casino Director (can you tell that these guys treat me well?) We shut down the restaurant after talking about the new online casinos his team will be launching- stay tuned for more info next week- and other developments in their program. After dinner we met up with the rest of the online gaming crowd and had another night of drinking, networking, good laughs, and hookers. Just kidding.
Day 4.
So you would think that sleeping in would be my number one priority, but no, I chose to wake up bright and early, yet again. I spent the majority of the day with my very good friend and Absolute Poker contact, and actually moved my things into her room so I could remain in Dam one extra night. Later that evening we met up with the rest of the Absolute Poker team, an amazing group of people I must say, and decided to plant ourselves at the hotel bar for many, many hours. The Nine.com guys, the Golden Palace team, and some others came along for the ride, and we all ended our evenings at late night fast food joints. I still can't believe I downed two kosher sandwich type things and a chocolate covered croissant. Disgusting.
Day 5.
Time to go home. I made it to my plane, which was delayed of course, AND we were forced to sit on the plane for one extra hour after landing in Boston. It just so happens that I was sitting near three crying babies and to make matters even more ridiculous, the airline decided to turn off the A/C during the one hour wait. Cheap bastards. I finally made it back home late on Wednesday night, jetlagged, hung over and tired. But you know what? It was worth it!
