Yarmouth Hopeful for UK Super Casino27 September 2005UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the EDP 24: "Hopes emerged last night that Yarmouth could still clinch a Las Vegas-style super casino with its jackpot of a projected 3.3million visitors a year. "The resort's chances appeared dashed in the spring when a last-minute deal on the Government's Gambling Bill reduced the number of planned super casinos from eight to one. "However, following speculation in a Sunday newspaper that Tony Blair could be set for a U-turn and allow up to 12, Yarmouth MP Tony Wright confirmed last night he had held positive talks with ministers. "…Mr Wright said with Blackpool a front-runner to clinch one on the West Coast, Yarmouth would be in pole position on the East Coast, especially given the resort's regeneration needs - one of the criteria for granting regional casino licences…" |
