Yarmouth developer shows cards26 January 2007YARMOUTH, England – As reported by the EDP 24 News: "A contender to bring a large casino to Yarmouth has laid down his ace card ahead of next week's announcement on whether the resort has won one of the eight prized licences. "Pleasure Beach operator Albert Jones revealed last night that he and development partner Henry Boot have teamed up with Britain's oldest name in gambling, the Aspinall Group, to deliver a project envisaged as the gateway to the planned outer harbour. "Now part of a joint venture, Aspers, formed with James Packer, son of publishing tycoon Kerry Packer, the Aspinall Group's stated aim is to introduce a new style of leisure facility to the UK, 'eschewing the Vegas-style glitz to create a development of which the local community can be justifiably proud'. "Henry Boot spokeswoman Karen Hawes said their plan was to turn the rundown site next to the Pleasure Beach into a 'destination location' with bowling, cinemas and restaurants as well as the casino. "…Yarmouth will learn on Tuesday whether it has landed a licence, which will permit a 1,500sq m casino with 150 gaming machines and a jackpot of up to £4000…" |
