Wyoming Looks for Public's Casino Comments20 July 2005WYOMING – As reported by the Caspar Star Tribune: "People will have the chance to offer their views about gambling in Wyoming at a legislative meeting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the University of Wyoming Outreach Building, 951 N. Poplar, according to the Legislative Service Office. "The Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Interim Committee named a five-member subcommittee to hear public comment and review questions about gambling. "The issue came to a head late last year and early this year after some county attorneys shut down electronic bingo operations, a state district judge in Cheyenne ruled that e-bingo was illegal, and the Legislature voted to outlaw e-bingo in its 2005 session. "New gambling technology has created new games that are not fully covered in Wyoming's gambling laws, which forbid gambling with few exceptions such as when nonprofit organizations conduct bingo or pull tabs…" |
