Wyoming Bingo Halls Closed

WYOMING – As reported by the Torrington Telegram: "Local electronic bingo establishments are again being closed down across the state after a decision addressing legality issues of electronic gaming in Wyoming. Wyoming Attorney General Patrick J. Crank announced Wednesday that Wyoming 1st Judicial District Court Judge E. James Burke rendered a decision stating:

"1. Electronic bingo machines are 'gambling devices' prohibited under Wyoming law;

"2. The games played on the electronic bingo machines do not constitute 'bingo' as contemplated by Wyoming statutes; and

"3. Because the profits from electronic bingo operations are shared between non-profit and for-profit entities, the operations are in violation of Wyoming statutes that allow only non-entities to conduct bingo games.

"Burke also found that the plaintiffs had failed to establish that any portion of Wyoming's gambling laws were unconstitutional…"
