WSOP Choctaw circuit event series sees record number of entries27 January 2016(PRESS RELEASE) -- For the sixth consecutive year, Choctaw Casino Resort - Durant hosted the World Series of Poker (WSOP) circuit. The circuit ran from Jan. 1 to Jan. 18 with a total of 19,892 entries with players from three different countries and 47 states and Washington D.C. Andy Philachack from Garland, Texas took home the largest chunk of the prize pool going home with more than $393,000. This is his second win in the series; his first was in New Orleans in 2007. The victory also earned him an automatic entry into the invitation-only WSOP Global Casino Championship. "We've been honored to host this prestigious poker tournament for the past six years," said Wendy Carter, marketing director for Choctaw Casino Resort. "The event continues to grow, with 19,892 participants this year, it is the largest poker tournament in the area. We congratulate Mr. Philachack and all the winners who participated over the past two weeks." The casino set a new record for the $365 buy-in event with 4,249 players and holds the first and second place record for most entries in the event. It also holds the second place record for the largest $1,675 main event attendees with 1,565 players. Below are the final table results for the WSOP Main Event: 1.
