World’s first social gambling MeetUp a success27 July 2012LONDON -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The world’s first social gambling games MeetUp was held in London on July 17 at the Verve Bar in Covent Garden, London. The event attracted over 100 registrants who wanted to network with like-minded individuals within the social gambling market. These included gambling operator, game developers, investors, games producers, casino technology companies and more. The success of this event has confirmed the launch of a new iGaming Business event, the Global Social Gambling Conference, to be held in London in November. “The MeetUp was set up to see the level of interest in the market and to allow people from all facets of social gambling, who may not be involved in the gambling sphere yet, to network and do business,” stated Alex Pratt, head of iGaming Business. “But we felt that the interest in this MeetUp went beyond networking, with people needing information and education on the subject. Our two speakers gave a quick overview, and attendees gave us such positive feedback, a full-day conference felt like the next logical step.” The two speakers in question were the Managing Director of Enteraction, Andy Rogers, speaking on the opportunities in this market, and the CEO of Plumbee.com, Raf Keustermans, on getting funding for a social casino games company. The high level of expert speakers shows the commitment to providing the best information available, especially as the social space is such a dynamic and changing environment. "The social space is exciting and we are throwing ourselves behind it,” commented Michael Caselli, Editor in Chief of iGaming Business. “As the only dedicated conference in the space, we want to educate and connect everyone, including our competitors, to the emerging world of social gambling."
