World championship fight at Mohegan Sun4 December 2007ASVILLE, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mohegan Sun is giving fans and patrons the opportunity to catch one of the biggest boxing match-ups of the decade free throughout the property on Saturday, December 8th. With a combined record of 81-0, pound-for-pound king of the ring and world welterweight champion "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather will meet British icon and universally recognized world junior welterweight champion Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton for the world welterweight championship. The fight, aptly named "Undefeated," will be shown live on HBO at 9:00pm throughout the property at most bars, restaurants and in Mohegan Sun's Wolf Den after the conclusion of the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Holiday Show. Floyd Mayweather, 30, is 38-0 (24 KO's) and the reigning world and Ring Magazine welterweight champion. He is a six-time world champion in five weight divisions including super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight. An accomplished fighter who capped off his amateur career with a Bronze Medal in the 1996 Olympic Games, Mayweather turned pro later that year and by his 18th fight was a world champion having stopped Genaro Hernandez in the eighth round to win the WBC super featherweight title October 3, 1998 at the age of only 21. In 2007, Mayweather continued his legacy with a spectacular victory over De La Hoya for the WBC junior middleweight title in May -- the largest grossing event in the history of boxing. 28-year-old Ricky Hatton, is 43-0 (31 KO's) and hails from Manchester, England. A multi-division champion and universally recognized world junior welterweight champion, "The Hitman" has been packing arenas in England since his early days as a pro. A relentless force in the ring whose pressure and body punching has broken down championship caliber fighters for years, Hatton turned pro in 1997 and hasn't looked back since.
