Woman Wins $5 Million Slot Jackpot9 March 2006VINTON, Louisiana – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Experiencing the biggest shock of her life, a self-employed, 45-year-old woman visiting the Delta Downs Casino Sunday evening screamed aloud after hitting a $5,395,039 statewide progressive jackpot while playing a popular Wheel Of Fortune(R) $5 slot machine. Candy Lynn Searcy of Conroe, Texas, said her husband urged her to play the available Wheel Of Fortune(R) machine and had only wagered about $50. "I was actually here to pick up my winnings statement for last year and decided to play for a while," Searcy explained. After the jackpot was verified by Louisiana State Police and IGT technicians, she said she happily posed for a photo with the oversized check for $5.4 million. "I plan to buy a new house, place a down payment on a house for one of my daughters, and buy my other daughter a new car," the excited Searcy said. "But I'm not going to go on any wild spending sprees." This is the third MegaJackpots(R) grand prize awarded in Louisiana so far this year bringing the state's total prize payouts to more than $8 million in 2006. The Wheel of Fortune(R) progressive slot machine is based on the popular television game show, "Wheel of Fortune(R)." The jackpot is paid when a player plays the maximum bet ($10 on the $5 game) and lines up all three winning symbols on the appropriate pay line. After the jackpot is verified, the Wheel of Fortune(R) meter on the $5 machine is reset at $1,000,000. Wheel of Fortune(R) is one of 16 Louisiana MegaJackpots(R) systems operated by IGT. All IGT MegaJackpots(R) awards are paid in annual installments upon verification, except MegaJackpots(R) Instant Winners(TM) jackpots and Rapid Riches MegaJackpots(R) awards, which are paid in their entirety upon verification. Wheel of Fortune(R) is a registered trademark of Califon Production Inc. IGT is a global company specializing in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and sales of computerized gaming machines and systems products. |
