Woman Wins $1.6 Million Slot Jackpot

31 May 2004

LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Kathryn Harris was having a lucky day. She had won two jackpots totaling over $3,000 and her husband had won $2,000. But all that paled in comparison to the $1.6 million she won Sunday evening on the new nickel Wheel of Fortune® Special Edition(TM) video slot at Boulder Station.

"The game was brand new and looked like fun," Harris said. She had invested less than $20 and only played a minute or two before the five wheels lined up. "Because the game is so new, no one knew what I had won," Harris said, "the slot attendant had to go find someone to tell us that it was the big one."

Wheel of Fortune® Special Edition(TM) was installed at the casino last week and the crowd of Memorial Day visitors that gathered around the machine couldn't believe it had already hit the top MegaJackpots(TM) award.(TM)

But no one was more surprised than Harris herself. "It still hasn't registered and I have no idea what I'll do now," she said.

Harris, a Los Angeles bank employee, was in Las Vegas with family members to celebrate a belated Mother's Day with her 90-year-old mother. "My mom can't believe that she has lived long enough to see her daughter become a millionaire," Harris said. "And I can't either!"

Wheel of Fortune® Special Edition(TM) is the latest in the Wheel of Fortune® family of slots developed by IGT (NYSE: IGT), a world leader in the manufacturing of gaming machines and proprietary software for progressive gaming systems. One of 24 Nevada MegaJackpots(TM) systems operated by IGT, Wheel of Fortune® Special Edition(TM) is based on the world's most popular game show and, built on IGT's Advanced Video Platform, represents the next generation of slot machine entertainment. The game's jackpot reset to $1.5 million and will continue to grow until hit again.
