Woman Fails to Make Casino Payment

LAS VEGAS -- As reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal: ``A woman who accused singer Celine Dion's husband of rape failed to make a $50,000 restitution payment Tuesday amid charges she defrauded Harrah's Las Vegas out of about $500,000.

``In March, Yun Kyeong Kwon Sung, 46, of Pasadena, Calif., sued Dion's husband and agent, Rene Angelil, alleging he raped her in March 2000 at the Imperial Palace.

``Angelil has denied the allegation, and a district judge recently sent the lawsuit to arbitration.

``Subsequent to the lawsuit, a criminal complaint was filed in Las Vegas Justice Court, accusing Sung of illegally receiving four markers totaling $500,000 at Harrah's last year. The complaint said she wrote checks for the markers but did not allow the checks to clear her bank account.

``In May, Clark County prosecutors agreed to release Sung on her own recognizance if she agreed to repay the casino.

``Tuesday was the day the first of $50,000 in monthly payments was due, but Sung's attorney, Jason Earnest, told Justice of the Peace Tony Abbatangelo that she didn't have the money..."
