Woman Claims to Have Been Goldberg's Lover8 January 2001NEWARK, New Jersey – Jan. 8, 2001 – As reported by the Associated Press: ``A woman claiming to have been the lover of the late chief executive of the world's largest gambling company has filed a lawsuit asking for a share of his estate. ``Stefania Santacroce, 41, said in the lawsuit filed Friday that Arthur Goldberg, 58, had vowed to take care of her for the rest of her life. ``Goldberg, who was chief executive of Park Place Entertainment Corp. of Las Vegas, died Oct. 17 of complications from bone marrow failure. He had been estranged from his wife, Veronica, since 1995, according to the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Newark. ``Santacroce had moved into Goldberg's New Jersey mansion, and Goldberg was transferring money to her name and buying her an apartment in New York City, the lawsuit said. Goldberg had announced that the couple would get married, according to the lawsuit…” |
