Wisconsin tribal casino gets BIA approval

WISCONSIN – As reported by Wisconsin Business North: "The Bureau of Indian Affairs has given the St. Croix and Bad River tribes a tentative thumbs up for their application to have an off-reservation casino in Beloit. Mike Simonson reports from Superior.

"Even though many hurdles remain to be cleared, the Bad River tribe is keeping its fingers crossed, hoping for approval in the next year. The Bad River reservation is rich in landscape, situated on the shores of Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay.

"…Even if federal approval is completed, state of Wisconsin say-so is needed to build an off-reservation casino complex. The casino has already been approved by Beloit voters in a referendum..."
