Wisconsin Track Wants Compacts Blocked26 May 2004MADISON, Wisconsin – As reported by the Associated Press: "The owners of Dairyland Greyhound Park asked the state appeals court Tuesday to temporarily prevent Gov. Jim Doyle from signing any new Indian gaming compacts until their challenge of casino gambling is decided in court. "The state Supreme Court ruled in another case earlier this month that Doyle exceeded his authority in signing one of the compacts last year. "…Dairyland's owners filed a motion for temporary injunction blocking the governor from signing more compacts. Their lawsuit seeks to stop the casino gambling offered by various Wisconsin tribes unless the state constitution is amended…" |
