Wisconsin County Casino Referendum Set

MADISON, Wisconsin – As reported by the Associated Press: "The Dane County Board unanimously agreed Monday to hold a referendum on whether the Ho-Chunk Nation can expand a bingo hall into a casino.

"The board also voted 32-4 to approve an agreement calling for the tribe to pay the county and the city of Madison at least $90 million over the next 12 years if voters approve an expansion of the DeJope bingo parlor in Madison.

"…Gov. Jim Doyle signed a gambling compact with the Ho-Chunk earlier this year allowing the expansion if the referendum passes…"
