Wisconsin casino report done

WISCONSIN – As reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal: "The U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs' Midwest regional office has completed drafting a final environmental impact statement on a proposal to build an off-reservation casino at the Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha and has sent the document to Washington, D.C. for a final review.

"The impact statement, which is thousands of pages long, is the federal study examining the socioeconomic, traffic and environmental impact of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin's proposed $808 million entertainment complex. The document's transfer to the BIA's national office moves the proposal one step closer to a final decision, Menominee chairwoman Karen Washinawatok said Tuesday.

"…The Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin announced plans to build an entertainment center and casino at Kenosha's Dairyland Greyhound Park in January 2004. The tribe said the project would create more than 3,000 jobs and pay state and local government more than $2 billion over the facility's first 25 years of operation…"
