Winter takes home $10,000 Short Deck event at US Poker Open18 February 2019(PRESS RELEASE) -- The fourth time’s a charm for Sean Winter at the 2019 U.S. Poker Open as he took down the $10,000 Short Deck event for $151,200, defeating a field of 42 entries. Winter had made the final table of all three previous events putting him firmly in the overall points lead with 440 and $419,900 prize money earned so far. After his win, Winter said, “Everything is just flowing well. I’m focused, feeling mentally strong and I’m getting lucky in the right spots and getting away with things in others.” “I probably need another first or second place because I think Stevie is going to do well the rest of the series. I haven’t really put much thought into it until this point and I might need 600 points to win this thing.” At the final table Winter beat out the likes of David Peters, Seth Davies, Ben Lamb, Ben Yu and reigning champion Stephen Chidwick. Chidwick now has three final tables in this series so far putting him second in the overall standings. “Right now, I don’t really want to do anything else but play these events. When you’ve got a nice hot streak going you just want to keep it going. This is the most fun poker gets.” Shortly after winning, Winter hopped into the $25,000 Event #5 that’s currently underway. Event #5 registration closed with 59 entries creating a massive prize pool of $1,475,000 and a $442,500 first prize.
