Win-River plans $90 million expansion

23 May 2007

REDDING, California -- As reported by the Redding Record: "Win-River wants to spend $90 million — nearly three times the combined cost of Big League Dreams Sports Park, the Redding Soccer Park and the Redding Aquatic Center — to build a destination resort where its current casino sits.

"An eight-story, 175-room hotel, a five-story parking garage, new 2,000-seat multipurpose events center, steakhouse and buffet dining room, and 1,000 extra gaming machines would be part of the expansion.

"The hotel and parking garage would be built south of the casino on Redding Rancheria Road. The Event Center would be razed to make room for a two-story building that would include a steakhouse on the bottom floor and multipurpose concert and events hall on the second.

"To accommodate more slots and gaming tables, the casino will sprout a second floor.

"...Groundbreaking could come in October. The entire project would take about two years to finish, Win-River General Manager Gary Hayward said Tuesday..."
