Will Rogers Downs' Casino Opening Postponed

CLAREMORE, Oklahoma – As reported by the Oklahoman: "Will Rogers Downs' casino opening, once predicted for July, will be delayed at least two more weeks.

"Gaming Laboratories International, the only company authorized to test and certify the machines, can't do so until after Thanksgiving, said Mike Miller, spokesman for the Cherokee Nation, which owns the track.

"The latest delay could cost more than $1 million combined to the track, the state, horse breeders and race purses.

"…Two other smaller testing labs want approval to do the same work. The commission's meeting agenda includes items regarding both companies.

"Neither Miller nor a Gaming Laboratories International official would say why the lab can't certify the Will Rogers Downs games until after Thanksgiving…"
