West Warwick Council May Retract Casino Brief13 July 2005RHODE ISLAND – As reported by the Kent County Daily Times: "The West Warwick Town Council will vote Tuesday night whether or not to withdraw the Rhode Island Supreme Court Brief that was filed by the Lynch and Friel law firm on the town's behalf. "Councilman Leo J. Costantino Jr. (R-Ward 4) asked that the item be put on the next council meeting agenda so that the council can discuss and approve or reject the brief submittal that was in support of a casino in West Warwick. "…West Warwick Town Council President Jeanne-Marie DiMasi (D-Ward 1) said that the item has been placed on the agenda out of respect for Costantino's request. "…Costantino also wants the council to vote on whether the law firm's role has been expanded beyond negotiations. "…Councilman John J. Flynn (D-Ward 2) considers the entire situation ridiculous. "…He considers the idea of withdrawing the brief 'grandstanding.'…" |
