West Virginia Track Adding Slots11 June 2004Las Vegas Sun WHEELING, West Virginia -- Wheeling Island Racetrack & Gaming Center is adding 200 more slot machines this month to accommodate the facility's growing popularity and to boost cash flow. The greyhound racing track plans to increase the number of slot machines from 2,200 to 2,400 throughout the casino on June 25, said Geoff Andres, president of Wheeling Island Gaming Inc., the track's parent company. "We're actually capacity-constrained Saturday night," Andres said "We don't have enough machines." The new slot machines will bring Wheeling Island to the maximum number allowed by the West Virginia Lottery Commission, Andres said, adding that commission approval would have to be obtained to go beyond the 2,400 limit.
