West Virginia senate approves table gambling6 March 2007CHARLESTON, West Virginia – As reported by the West Virginia Intelligencer: "The West Virginia Senate today approved table gambling legislation by a vote of 20 to 13. "House Bill 2718 next goes back to the House, where members must decide whether to approve changes to the legislation added in the state Senate. "In the version previously passed by the House, 6 percent of the racetracks' gross profits from table gambling would have gone to the prize purse fund at the tracks. "The Senate dropped this figure to 2 percent, and redirected 4 percent of this money to counties and local municipalities. "…Gov. Joe Manchin then would have to sign the resulting bill…" |
