West Virginia Pro-Casino Group a No-Show at Meeting19 August 2004WEST VIRGINIA – As reported by the Weston Democrat: "A capacity crowd of Lewis County residents came out for Monday night's Town Meeting to hear from both sides of the gambling debate. "But they found that only one side of the issue was presented. "Dr. John W. Kindt, a University of Illinois professor who was sponsored by the West Virginia Council of Churches, spoke on the possible negative economic impact casino-type gaming would bring to the county. Representatives from the other side, The Mountaineer Group LLC, elected not to attend the meeting. "press release from Lowell Davis indicated that the group did not attend because 'the current issue is not the socioeconomic merits of limited gambling, but whether the local option will appear on the ballot.'
