West Virginia City Discusses Video Gambling Options3 August 2005WHEELING, West Virginia – As reported by the Wheeling Intelligencer: "City Manager Robert Herron on Tuesday presented city council with information about how other West Virginia cities are battling the rise of video gambling parlors. "Meanwhile, council members debated the best way to keep such establishments from taking over their wards. "The debate started when Councilman Vernon Seals and several residents expressed concern about two different video gambling parlors - one on South York Street and another on Delaware Street - planning to open on Wheeling Island. Seals suggested that such businesses be forced to apply for a special use permit, which would require a public hearing. He also suggested that a certain amount of distance be required between such establishments…" |
