West Memphis Chamber Supports Expanded Gambling

WEST MEMPHIS, Tennessee – As reported by the Evening Times: "The board of directors of the West Memphis Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Southland Greyhound Park's attempt to expand gambling in a Nov. 8 election.

"The addition of new jobs and tax revenue in West Memphis impressed the board, according to Chamber president Frank Martin.

"…The state Legislature approved Act 1151 of 2005 that would allow 'electronic games of skill' at Southland and Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs. The city of Hot Springs has also called a Nov. 8 vote on the issue.

"Earlier this month, the West Memphis City Council passed an ordinance setting the date for West Memphis citizens to vote on the matter…"
