Water Club features lots of luxe

"At Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, those lofty phrases really do seem to fit The Water Club, an ultra-luxe property that features 800 rooms and suites but will function like an intimate boutique hotel.

"...Borgata executives resist using the term 'tower' to describe The Water Club, preferring instead to call it a 'signature hotel.' A tower, they say, connotes a humdrum casino expansion instead of the separate identity the new $400 million hotel will possess when it opens in June.

"...Inside, it is a cosmopolitan setting reminiscent of the trendy, boutique hotels of New York and Miami. The contemporary decor includes exotic stone and wood finishes imported from throughout the world - from Africa to Asia and Europe to South America.

"...It features five heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a lavish 'spa in the sky' overlooking the ocean from the 32nd floor, six high-end retail shops and in-room dining by chef Geoffrey Zakarian of Country and Town restaurant fame in New York.

"...The price of all this luxury is not cheap. Room rates will range from about $300-$329 for midweek stays and between $500 and $700 for weekends. All rooms come with a water view.

"...The Water Club is an extension of Atlantic City's evolution into more of a Las Vegas-style overnight destination of posh spas, retail shops, restaurants and nightclubs to give visitors more to do than just gamble..."
