Washington Gambling Commission Delays Vote14 November 2003SEATTLE, Washington – As reported by the Associated Press: "The state Gambling Commission voted Thursday to delay its decision on whether to increase betting limits on nontribal minicasinos from $100 to $300. "The three members who voted in favor of the postponement said they needed more information, while the two who voted against the delay said it was time to make a decision and move on, commission spokeswoman Amy Blume said. "The commission's next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 8-9 in Seattle. "The Recreational Gaming Association, which represents non-Indian casinos, proposed the increase, which would affect 79 house-banked card rooms across the state. Tribal casino operators, relatives of gambling addicts and others against the expansion of gambling opposed the increase…" |
