Washington county opposes casino7 November 2007WASHINGTON -- As reported by the Columbian: "Opponents of the Cowlitz casino picked up another ally Monday when the Woodland City Council voted 3-2 to oppose the $510 million complex. "Woodland joins two other cities, Vancouver and La Center, in telling the federal government that it doesn't want a massive casino complex built near its borders. "Resolutions passed by all three cities threaten litigation should Carl Artman, assistant Interior secretary for Indian affairs, approve the Cowlitz Tribe's plan to establish an initial reservation along the west side of Interstate 5 two miles from La Center..." |
