Washington Casino Owners Working with Neighbors

LAKE STEVENS, Washington – As reported by the (Washington) Herald Net: "The owners of the Highway 9 Casino and Barclays North Inc. are working with neighbors of the soon-to-open casino to alleviate residents' concerns.

"'We know it will take time for them to get used to us, and that they'll have more issues now than they'll have in six months,' casino co-owner Randy Williams said. 'We're very conscientious about where we're at. We try to be good neighbors. We actually do care and we want to be good players in the area.'

"…Neighbors knew a restaurant was going to be built close to homes in the area, but didn't know that it would include a casino, said Sonya Hart, a co-coordinator of the neighborhood block watch. She has been working with Snohomish County Councilman Jeff Sax and other county officials, as well as the casino's owners, regarding neighbors' concerns.

"Hart met with Sax last week and gave him a copy of a letter she gave the casino owners outlining neighbors' concerns.

"…Barclays North Inc. owns the casino property and the road. They also want to be good neighbors, said Laurie Carroll, commercial development administrator…"
