Washington Casino Growth Slow but Steady

SHELTON, Washington – As reported by the Olympian: "Two months after it opened, the $16 million Little Creek Casino Hotel is about half full on average.

"And that's just fine so far with general manager Doug Boon, who notes that two recent weekends were sold out with gamblers.

"…The Squaxin Island tribe built the adjoining 92-room hotel to complement its casino, which opened in 1995. The tribe's hope is that the hotel will add to the $20 million in direct and indirect annual earnings from the casino with proceeds from guests, meetings and convention business.

"…Gamblers and the surrounding nongambling community alike are staying at the hotel, where rates range from $89 a night to $189 for spa rooms featuring a hot tub. Some guests gave the hotel solid reviews this week.

"…The Little Creek hotel faces potential competition from the Quinault and Upper Skagit, other tribal/hotel combinations in the region…"
