Wapello county officials support casino

OTTUMWA, Iowa – As reported by the Ottumwa County: "The Wapello County Board of Supervisors signed off on a letter of support for a casino in Wapello County, but it was a 2-1 vote.

"Supervisor Steve Siegel sought the letter after conversations with Jack Ketterer, the administrator for the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

"The commission will discuss on Thursday the possibility of allowing new casino licenses in Iowa. This is the first time the commission has formally addressed the possibility since it shut out Ottumwa and Fort Dodge in 2005.

"The commission will not make a decision Thursday. It plans to discuss whether to allow new licenses. Details on the process will presumably follow if the commission backs new casino licenses.

"…Wild Rose Entertainment submitted a plan as part of the 2005 process focused on a casino just west of Bridge View Center…"
